The softness of wood?

I've never really thought of wood as being soft, however, in this photo, it "feels" soft to me. I like the coloring, the softness of the light and the emphasis on the color/texture of the wood. What do you think?

Recently, I visited a southwest museum with my family. I had a fantastic time photographing the local plants, animals and various scenes. I took over 200 pictures! I will be sharing many, not all, of the photos over the next little while. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.
