This photo means a lot to me also. Not because of the abstractness (is that really a word?), but because of the subject. I'm not going to tell you what tools these are. I will tell you, they belong to my father. I have fond memories of him using them and letting me use them to create some wonderful things. I will always cherish those memories. My siblings should be able to tell what these are right away.

As far as I can remember, I have always loved photography. The first thing I ever saved my own money to buy was a camera. My brother & I researched what would be the best camera for me to buy. I was all of 13 years old. I still have that camera today. It sits right here on my desk, next to the second point & shoot camera I ever owned. This photograph was the first one that I took that I really, truly loved. I can't believe it hasn't surfaced before this on the blog. When I developed this in the dark room, I knew I was hooked forever.

I love this picture. I was hired to photograph my friend's family. I always get nervous when shooting family portaits - the expectations of the family and all. We shot traditional, posed pictures first . . . and then I asked them to play & have fun while I followed them around and photographed what I saw.
